Experience the highlights of Tanzania’s Northern Safari Circuit on a 4-Day Tanzania Camping Safari covering Tarangire National Park, Serengeti National Park, and the Ngorongoro Crater. This budget-friendly adventure combines spectacular wildlife viewing, comfortable tented camping, professional guiding, and freshly prepared meals.
The safari is designed to start and end in Arusha, with three nights of camping and extensive game drives. The route is compact but rewarding, offering opportunities to see elephants, lions, cheetahs, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, and—if luck is on your side— leopards and rhinos.
4-Day Tanzania Camping Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arusha – Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, depart Arusha and drive to Tarangire National Park, famous for its enormous elephant herds, ancient baobab trees and diverse wildlife.
Enjoy a full-day game drive through the park, looking for elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo and many bird species.
In the late afternoon, drive to Migombani campsite for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Tarangire – Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, leave Tarangire and travel through the scenic Great Rift Valley and Ngorongoro Highlands toward the legendary Serengeti National Park.
Enter the Serengeti and continue with an afternoon game drive. The Serengeti is renowned for its vast plains, large predator populations and the annual wildebeest migration.

Day 3: Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Wake early for an early-morning game drive, one of the best times to see predators and active wildlife.
After breakfast, continue exploring the Serengeti before driving toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Depending on wildlife conditions and the itinerary, there may be opportunities to visit viewpoints or enjoy additional wildlife viewing along the route.
Arrive at Simba B campsite near the Ngorongoro Crater for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha
After an early breakfast, descend into the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater for a crater-floor game drive.
The crater is one of Tanzania's premier wildlife areas, with excellent chances of seeing lions, elephants, buffalo, hippos, zebras, wildebeest and other wildlife. The crater descent/service charge is a separate regulated fee and is normally incorporated into the safari operator's quotation.
After the crater tour, ascend and drive back to Arusha, arriving in the late afternoon or early evening.

Best time to travel: June–October is generally excellent for wildlife viewing, while January–February can also be rewarding. The Serengeti migration is seasonal, so the best area to visit depends on the time of year.

Recommended group size: Up to 6 people per safari vehicle provides a good balance between comfort and price.
