Best overall: October, November, March & early April
May–September: Hotter, particularly June–August. If traveling during these months, plan outdoor sightseeing early in the morning and keep the afternoons lighter.

When visiting mosques, dress more conservatively: shoulders and knees should be covered, and women should carry a scarf for covering their hair where required.
However, there are no documented cases of tourists or foreigners being harassed simply because of inappropriate dress. The people of Egypt are generally known for their patience, compassion, and hospitality toward others, including visitors. They are often willing to share their knowledge and explain cultural practices that foreigners may not be familiar with, doing so in a respectful and courteous manner. Violence is not something they seek to promote or encourage.
